RSL BOUNCES BACK WITH CLEAN SHEET

The conditions were less than perfect as snow was abound Saturday night at Real Salt Lake’s Rio Tinto Stadium but that didn’t stop the Home team from getting the victory and earning the 3 points.  To say it was much needed after getting trounced in an embarrassing season home opener last week is an understatement.  Head coach Mike Petke was truly embarrassed with the home opener, apologizing to the fans and organization for the debacle.

However, it didn’t take the Petke lead squad to bounce right back quickly. RSL got the lead in the 4th minute of play against Petke’s old team New York Red Bull’s.  Carlos Rivas was called for a foul on David Horst in the Red Bull’s box.  The play was video reviewed and confirmed. Real Salt Lake’s Albert Rusnak lined up and buried the penalty shot which would ultimately hold up for the victory some 86+ minutes later.
