COLUMBUS FALLS IN PHILLY…UNION TOP OF THE MLS EAST

Brought to you proudly by DUNKIN DONUTS

We were camped out on the east coast this week in Philadelphia and DC.  In Philly, a struggling COLUMBUS CREW drew first blood when Ola Kamara found  the back of the net in the 14th minute to give the Crew the early lead on the road.  That only lasted 7 minutes.  Chris Pontius who played all of his professional soccer down the road  in DC until this season, continues to put together another impressive performance, scoring in the 21st minute to draw the Union even at 1-1. With zero stoppage time added to the first half, the team’s went to the locker room tied 1-1.  It remained tied until Vincent Nogueira scored the Union’s second goal on a great cross and assist by Chris Pontuis in the 58th minute.  After former Union fan favorite Conor Casey was given a straight red card after just entering the match, Fabian Herbers who replaced Chris Pontius scored a thing of beauty, curving it into the top 90 right far post.  It was his first MLS goal and gave Philly  the  3-1 lead.  In the 3rd minute of extra time, down a player, Columbus scored their second and final goal.  Phily 3-2 victory.
